Derbyshire Police have arrested a 36 year old man, originally from India, on suspicion of attempted murder after a car ploughed into pedestrians in the Friar Gate shopping centre, Derby, on Saturday evening.
The incident, which shocked the town, happened at 9:30 on Saturday evening, as a black Suzuki Swift ploughed into pedestrians before departing the scene. Seven people were left with serious but non life-threatening injuries.

A Home Office Spokesperson said: “Our thoughts are with everyone affected by the incident in Derby yesterday evening. We are grateful to the police and emergency services for their swift response.”
Counter terrorism officers are supporting Derbyshire police as part of the investigation.
