MP Rupert Lowe Launches Furious Attack on ‘Broken System’ Facing Young Britons

Great Yarmouth MP and Restore Britain leader Rupert Lowe has launched a scathing attack on the UK’s economic system, claiming young people are being “crushed” by rising costs and falling living standards.

In a lengthy statement posted on social media, Lowe said many young Britons face a future of high housing costs, heavy taxation and limited opportunity.“The system is crushing you. It kills ambition and suffocates aspiration,” he said.

Piss-Poor Standard of Living

Lowe described life for younger generations as increasingly unaffordable, pointing to long commutes, high rents and stagnant wages. He criticised what he called a “really piss-poor standard of living”, arguing that Britain is falling behind countries it once competed with. The MP also highlighted the burden of student loans, taxation and rising costs of starting a business, saying the current system discourages ambition.

Anger Over Tax and Work Culture

In the statement, Rupert Lowe also attacked what he sees as a culture of over-taxation and limited reward for hard work.

He claimed young workers are losing “almost half” their earnings, while questioning whether the system fairly rewards effort. The comments included criticism of HMRC and government policy, reflecting growing frustration among some political figures over economic conditions.

Call for Radical Change

Rupert Lowe positioned his Restore Britain party as an alternative to mainstream politics, calling for a complete overhaul of the current economic model. “Restore Britain doesn’t want to reform the establishment, we want to smash it up,” he said.

Lowe, known for his tough views on immigration, urged voters to reject what he described as “the same model” offered by major parties including Labour, the Conservatives and Reform UK.

Debate Over Generational Divide

The MP also called for a “meaningful debate” around policies such as the pensions triple lock, suggesting it contributes to division between younger and older generations. He argued that the current system is “not financially sustainable” in its present form.

Political Reaction Likely

Lowe’s comments are likely to spark debate across the political spectrum, particularly given their tone and criticism of multiple parties. With economic pressure continuing to dominate public concern, the issues raised are expected to resonate with many voters — particularly younger people.
